Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 head romaine lettuce or 2 hearts of romaine
  • 1/2 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup croutons
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese shaved
  • store-bought or homemade Caesar salad dressing see notes

Instructions

  • Chop or tear the romaine lettuce into bite-size pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
  • Thinly slice the red onion and store the remaining half for other recipes. Add the onion to the salad mix.
  • Add half of the parmesan cheese and 1/4 to 1/2 cups of dressing depending on your preference. Use salad tongs to tightly toss the salad until well-combined and evenly coated in dressing.
  • Transfer to a serving bowl or salad plates. Top with the croutons, remaining Parmesan cheese, and cracked black pepper (optional).

Notes

Since everyone prefers a different amount of salad dressing, I don't include a portion recommendation in my recipe for this Caesar salad. Adjust according to your taste preferences, or serve with additional dressing if desired.
